Social Distancing

What If I’m Nervous About Returning?

We understand that some may still feel a little nervous about returning to gathering.  We want you to know that you are a vital part of our church, and that your presence has been missed.  With that said, we are encouraging everyone to return to gathering when they feel comfortable and ready to do so!  We are staging our reopening in such a way to promote respect and comfort, yet minimizing fear.  If you are uncomfortable about gathering at this time, it is our intent to continue to live stream Sunday Morning Worship.  So please join us on Facebook or YouTube.  We await to see you when you are ready!

Will The Livestream Continue?

It is our intent, from this day forward, to continue livestreaming Sunday Morning Worship on YouTube & Facebook.  Please be patient with us though.  For the past two months, Sunday Morning Worship has been pre-recorded and pieced together using editing software, then streamed to your living rooms on Sundays.  We just did not have the equipment needed for a “high quality” livestream.  That equipment has been ordered, and should be in this week.  With any new technology though, it may take us a week or two to “get it right”.  In fact, if you have subscribed to YouTube & Facebook, you may receive some notifications of “test” streams this week.

Will We Be Practicing Social Distancing?

Church Leadership will be encouraging social distancing at this time.  You will see signs when you walk in, and throughout the building encouraging this.  We do not, however, intend for there to be any “policing” of this from our leadership or our members.  We ask that you use common sense and that you RESPECT others enough to not make things awkward, uncomfortable, etc…

Should I Wear A Mask Or Gloves?

As a leadership, we are not in business of telling you what you “have” to do!  If you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, please do so!  If you do not feel that wearing a mask is beneficial, you are free to not do so.  We do ask, however, that in all your connections, you behave according to the Fruit Of The Spirit (Galatians 5).  Shaming anyone for their decision to wear, or not to wear is absolutely unacceptable!  We do strongly suggest, however, that gloves NOT be worn, as this can actually cause greater cross contamination.  We do not, however, intend for there to be any “policing” of this from our leadership or our members.  We ask that you use common sense and that you RESPECT others enough to not make things awkward, uncomfortable, etc…

Will We Be Shaking Hands and/or Hugging?

As a leadership, we are encouraging social distancing.  As you will see on our signs, #ItsOKtoSmileAndWave | #EvangelicalElbow | #FreeWillFistBump.  Please know that while you may be ready for handshakes or hugs, others may not be just yet.  With that said, please understand that you may see some people shake hands and/or hug.  We do not intend for there to be any “policing” of this from our leadership or our members.  We ask that you use common sense and that you RESPECT others enough to not make things awkward, uncomfortable, etc… during this time.

Will Children’s Church and/or Nursery Be Open?

Through the month of May, we will be limiting gatherings and programs to Sunday Morning Worship in the Auditorium only.  We ask that families sit and worship together during this time.  Kids Korner will continue to be an integral part of Sunday Morning Worship.  The nursery room (un-staffed) will be also be available for anyone that may need it.  Towards the end of May, the Board will reconvene to discuss further implementation of other gatherings and programs.

Will We Be Roping Off Rooms / Pews?

No.  No rooms will be roped off… No pews will be roped off.  HOWEVER, we will be marking every other pew and encouraging those in attendance to sit as a family in those pews that are marked.  We do not, however, intend for there to be any “policing” of this from our leadership or our members.  We ask that you use common sense and that you RESPECT others enough to not make things awkward, uncomfortable, etc…

Will The Restrooms Be Open?

Goodness Yes!  While we have heard that other ministries will not be opening their restrooms, I cannot imagine this.  Our restroom facilities will be open and cleaned before Sunday Morning Worship.  We only ask that you use common sense in using them, be courteous to others, and wash your hands thoroughly before exiting the restroom (you should be doing that anyway).  🙂

How Will The Church Be Cleaned?

Every Tuesday during the month of May, we will be holding a “Deep Cleaning” day.  We are encouraging those that are able, willing, and are comfortable doing so, to come to the church building @ 9:00 a.m. for a few hours of deep cleaning to ensure that our facility is as clean as possible.

On late Saturday evening or Early Sunday morning, bathrooms and other “hot spot” areas will have another round of cleaning by staff to ensure they are as clean as possible.

Will We Have Sunday School?

Through the month of May, we will be limiting gatherings and programs to Sunday Morning Worship in the auditorium only.  Towards the end of May, the Board will reconvene to discuss further implementation of other gatherings and programs.

What Time Will The Church Building Be Opened?

The building will opened at 10:00 a.m. (at the latest) for those who would like to come and fellowship with the social distancing encouragement.

Will We Have Wednesday Evening Ministries?

Through the month of May, we will be limiting gatherings and programs to Sunday Morning Worship in the auditorium only.  Towards the end of May, the Board will reconvene to discuss further implementation of other gatherings and programs.

Will A Time Limit Be Placed On Gatherings?

No.  We want to allow God to speak to hearts during our gatherings.  While we may be succinct, no time limit will be made.  Sunday Morning Worship will consist of Worship through Songs, Announcements, Kids Korner, and a message from one of our Pastors.  This typically takes somewhere between 1 – 1.5 hours.

Will The Offering Plates Be Passed?

At this time, we will continue to encourage #GivingOnline via www.1stfreewillbaptist.church/giving or using the Tithe.Ly app for Android or iOS.  Additionally, offering plates will be stationed in the back of the auditorium for you to drop in your gifts on your way in, or your way out.  Thank you for continuing to give!

Will There Be Coffee & Donuts?

Throughout the month of May, we thought it smart and safe to postpone having refreshments available.  However, of course, you are welcome to bring your own refreshments to enjoy before Sunday Morning Worship begins!
